Never. She's a nice lady but we have very little in common outside of DH and DD. We have hardly anything to say to one another.

My ex-MIL was a totally different story. She is/was awesome to me, and we had similar tastes and views on most things. I also admired her tremendously. I was sadder about losing her as a family member than I was about divorcing my ex.

I call her once a week separate from my DH. She likes to hear the details of what is happening with her grandkids and DH is not a very chatty person.

I call my mom once a day.

Yes, we have a weekly standing call and then will email or talk a couple of other times/week. Also FB friends. She is truly a great person and I feel lucky she is my MIL. She loves across the country so I like to keep her up to date on everything happening with her grandchildren and son (who calls his parents only very rarely...perhaps 3-4 times/year).

My MIL is one of my best friends. I feel lucky to have her. I should say though that she is DH's stepmother and she married FIL after DH was grown so there aren't any weird possessive dynamics.

No I don't call my MIL. I like her but we don't have that kind of relationship. DH talks to her everyday I'll shout something out to them but that's it.

My mom does call my DH and they text each other. But my mom thinks my DH hung the moon.
