Can you tell us more? - mom of a rising junior.

I cannot be more specific, but I can tell you that there are a good number of scholarship, paid, or other internship or study opportunities in the sciences, medical research, engineering, performing arts, writing, humanities, etc. offered by many institutions and organizations throughout the country.

Can you provide a link to one... not the one you are doing, another one.

Try Learn-Serve International. Its great but a big commitment. You must apply in the Fall for the domestic program. Yale also has a great program. Your child needs to use his/her skills to search these out on line. Kids need to want to do these things.

Almost every state school will take many of the APs with good scores for full credit. I think it is really just top 10-20 that really limit them. Our DS would go into Univ of Md with something like 36 college credits as a freshman -- instead, he'll get accelerate standing /placement in a few subjects. Still, that enables him to skip some large lecture hall intro courses to get to smaller classes earlier in college so that's some benefit and, of course, many kids would not get into these schools in the first place without taking AP courses or the equivalent at their schools.

Agreed: many, if not most, schools will not allow all of the AP scores to be applied for credits. If you are thinking this is your strategy you need to carefully look at the schools to which DC is applying.
