U2 in Buenos Aires in 1998 - their first Argentinian (and South American?) tour, and it was a-mazing. Went two nights -- first was on the floor directly in front of the stage, and second was in the stands and could get an overall feeling for the light show. It was truly incredible. I've seen them on every subsequent tour, but nothing beats that one.

I also saw U2 for the Joshua Tree tour. Our seats were terrible, and it was the show at RFK where Bono slipped and dislocated his shoulder, so it was a shorter show than typical on that tour. Also there was some drama in our group of friends. All that aside, walking out with the entire audience still singing "how long....to sing their song...." was awesome.

Saw John Mellencamp in the early 00's at Merriweather. We got $5 scalped tickets, which maybe contributed to feeling like it was one of the best shows - he rocked it out.

I also saw Midnight Oil in the 80s - at Towson, I think. After they hit it big, but we all thought it was an awesome show. Saw them again in the late 90s/early 00's at 9:30 Club and he's still got it going on.

It wasn't my #1 favorite, but Janet Jackson put on a great show with her Velvet Rope tour.

I loved the drowned world tour! Wasn't that impressed with subsequent Madonna tours I attended (Mdna especially). Don't think I'll be seeing her again unless its a greatest hits tour.

Gogol Bordello at 9:30 Club last year. I regret not seeing them both nights they were in town, and plan to see them every time they come to DC or Baltimore. They're a Romanian gypsy band (that also has a hispanic singer and an Irish fiddle player) and they rock.

Steel Panther at the Fillmore in Silver Spring was a close second. They're hilarious and the crowd was a trip.

Midnight Oil in LA before Beds Are Burning was famous- pure energy. Saw them 4 years later and they sucked.

Doug E. Fresh was in the audience and he invited him on-stage to jam. The whole place went nuts and I think entire audience had an out of body experience.

Ben Harper about 3 times. I actually could give or take him on recordings, but I swear his concerts are a religious experience.
