Why do people believe this? It’s metal. It can rust. I bought a house with a metal roof. It rusted and had water coming through the holes on the roof.

Right. The two posts to which you are responding are from 05/19/2014, back before it sold.

Drive through Roland Park or Homeland in Baltimore. There are plenty of metal and slate roofs in those neighborhoods. They are incredibly expensive to repair but beautiful.

You don’t know what you are talking about or you live more than 100 miles from any decent size town/city.

BIL got a metal roof on his house, it's a ranch and it looks fine...he has also had zero storm damage during some really bad storms and it also protects much better against fires. It's a good choice for upcoming climate changes.

Metal makes sense in a pretty narrow range; when the architecture of the structure demands it, if the building is designed for generational use or if the building is regularly scoured with 80+ mile per hour winds.

If it’s not one of these three then it’s a vanity purchase and if the neighbors don’t have it as well you’re not going to get more for your house in fact you’ll chase some people away.

They aren't loud over solid decking. The only are louder over open framing.

I don't like them aren't they loud when. It rains? They look cheap too.

It's a lovely house, the roof resembles ours over our porch (ours is green). We are happy with jt.

I didn't really have a choice as the additions from a previous Era didn't have enough slope so were failing miserably over time. It was metal or tar. But I love the look of metal.

This is a metal roof and I know first hand they last without issue for 15+ years and counting. Google metal tile roof to see all the styles

We love our copper roof, that is now a beautiful patina. Honestly we couldn't afford it at today's rates.

Go to New England, mainly northern New England. They are standard because they are incredibly durable compared shingles.

Slate is even worse than metal roof, that shit is terrible.

I don’t understand this comment.
Slate roofing can last over 100 years, though patching may be needed if there’s damage.

Replacing a whole slate roof, or putting a new one on, is now prohibitive bc of cost.
