So glad I found this thread. I've been ttc for almost 2 years. Never had a bfp in my life. Started my first IVF cycle in February, had 9 follicles, retrieved 4 eggs, all 4 fertilized through ICSI, 2 became blastocyst on day 5, and the other two barely made it to blast on day 7. All 4 were sent for PGS testing and only my 1 Day 7 4BB embryo came back normal (it was originally the worst graded one of the 4). I transferred it last week and got a vvvvfl bfp at 5 days post transfer. Praying that it sticks!!

My day 7 was tested and came back normal so I’m guessing also because it was an A grade they choose to transfer that over a C day 6. It survived the thaw and I know implantation chances are less but I would hope if it does implant it would have the same chance as the lesser graded day6.

Day 7s are more likely to be abnormal genetically. Day 5s have best odds. Once you test, it doesn’t matter all that much. At least I haven’t seen studies looking at differences between normal blasts that developed to blast in the different days.

And certainly even if u don’t test it’s not bad to use day 7s. It’s just less likely to work. Of course, once you know the actual outcome, stats are irrelevant.

I am so happy to hear success stories! My clinic just transferred my day 7 and choose that over my day 6s which apparently weren’t graded as good. SO I’m hoping it works. I wish there was more info out there about day 7s and my only concern is having a miscarriage as I’ve already had 2 from pgs normal day 6s.

Just an update for anyone still following this thread.

I transferred a Day 7 Blast (graded 6BB) in June. I am now 33 weeks pregnant with what appears to be a healthy baby. Will of course update once baby is born but I wanted to give hope to anyone who thinks their day 7s won't stick! It was my first FET and all went well! More clinics should freeze day 7s!

Look at it this way--what if you transfer both at the same time and neither one take? I wouldn't risk it--I would just do one at a time, especially since they're PGS normal. Based on the tons of research I've done, transferring two PGS normals will only increase your chance of having twins--it doesn't increase your chance of getting pregnant. Plus you get 6 months maternity leave! I would take advantage of that and then take advantage of it again when you have a second! Another question to consider: will you really regret NOT having twins? Good luck!

Transfer one. What if one splits? Triplet pregnancies are very risky.


I was in the same situation but my RE recommended I transfer both. I got one baby out of it.

41 yo Pregnant 34 weeks with a day 7 FET grade 5BA baby girl! AMH 0.32 at 38 yo. Only had 3 surviving to expanded blastocyst stage and tested normal embryos out of 4 cycles. All 3 implanted. This one was the last one. Other two were day 6 FET resulting with one baby boy.

Yesterday I had my frozen embryo transfer of 2 blasts. One was PGS normal 7 day 6BB fully hatched blast. The other didn’t have enough dna in the biopsy to test but we decided to transfer it anyway. This was a day 6, 6bc partially hatched blast. These are our last 2 embryos. Our doctor honestly doesn’t think they have a very strong chance.... said it’s 50/50 lol he actually said the day 6 one was poorer quality after the thaw. My beta test is on Labor Day so I’ll keep you all posted on the results! It really is nice to read everyone’s stories good or bad from this thread. Thank you to all the ladies who have posted on here.
