It's possible, but being in shape beforehand helps A LOT, as does genetics. I had my first baby right after I turned 31 and was in good shape then, thanks to being a jock most of my life and mostly thanks to training a lot of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the preceding few years, which was really good for my core strength and abs. Then I had twins at 32--surprise, heh!!-- and also suffered a labral hip tear while jogging, which required surgery. No lie, my abs started coming back within two weeks of having the twins (easy vaginal birth, plus breastfeeding twins sucked every single extra calorie I consumed out of me I think), but I couldn't work out much for awhile because of the hip thing. Anyway, I had a lot of muscle atrophy because of that, but once I was able to resume working out, I got my body back pretty fast. Boobs probably took the longest--I nursed the twins for a year and I'd say it was a full year after they were weaned for them to start looking alright again. I didn't get any stretch marks either time, but my 95 lb, 5'0" mother doesn't have them either so that's probably genetic. I'm 36 now and won't say my body looks like it did when I was 18, but it does look the same as it did before I had kids.

Okay this isn't a good picture.

point is that you can lose weight and work out but the extra skin needs to be surgically removed.

but that girl lost 172 pounds which takes alot more skin than the 40 pounds being discussed in this thread
