Nope. Lived nearby for over a decade several years ago. It was a great neighborhood.

I hear ya! We started in a 2 BR TH, and were able to buy up a little based on the profit on that. We still only put 10% down on a $450k house. We DIY basically everything for house repair. Such is life at just over 6 figures!

i promise you -- the commute from Reston to downtown DC is not bad. (555 bus to WFC to Farragut west) 1 hour most days. it was 45 minutes when i lived in DC, taking the bus.

Between the boarding houses, the drug dealer across the street, the immediate neighbors getting into screaming matches at 1am, and the people who didn't seem to like anyone further out than their first cousins ...

Yeah, stuff's changed. I guess.

And the S. Arlington hater is back! I was waiting to see how long that would take.

So you're saying you'd have stayed put with neighbors like mine, all for the sake of a short commute?

I think Annandale has some nice houses in that price range like this one:

Another person who bought in 20910 near downtown SS. Honestly, I never thought I would love it so much. It's the best mix of urban/suburban and my neighbors are the best.

I would recommend pimmit hills. The schools are good and so is the location.

Check out 22042 along Holmes Run Park, and across it into Annandale. Very pretty, well-kept streets with lots of trees and flowers. Here's a pretty good one.

Oh, and my neighbors hit us up for $20 the day after we met them. Probably should've sold a month after that.
