If you have a strong preference for a particular combination of skin color, hair color/texture, and facial features, you should date what you prefer unless you find someone outside your preference who knocks you off your feet.
If you lined up 20 guys of different races and ethnicities in front of me and said pick 10 based just on appearance, I'd automatically eliminate any guy under 5'10 (by measurement, not his claim). The next elimination would be blonds and redheads because I prefer dark hair. Among the dark-haired guys, I'd eliminate those with the lightest skin. If I ended up with a lighter-skinned AA guy and a darker-skinned Punjabi, I'd go for the Punjabi. And I'm AA.

Yes, I do believe it's racist.
Many of the white people who say "it's a matter of personal preference and being attracted to certain features" and would be initially attracted to a white-looking mixed-raced person, choose to not have a relationship with him/her because of the racial background. So it's a social discomfort that has nothing to do with looks.

Yes, but she will probably cheat on her spouse because she only married under social conditioning not love. Someone like this is a horrible person. She views black men as sexual beings and not as potential mates. This is one example of liberal racism at its finest. A black person is great to experiment with and use as a sex tool, but not great enough for marriage. What a sick individual. Yes, I'm aware that many white people do this and I find it quite disturbing. "Some" of these folks are the same type of people that seek sexual encounters with black people behind their spouses back. I love it when people contradict themselves. In an effort to prove that you are holier than though and not a racist, you just proved that deep down inside that you really are one. It sounds like someone really hit a nerve with you. You need counseling to deal with your anger and projection issues. You're way too invested in other people's lives. Nor are you NOT racist if you prefer another race. A white man saying that he only like Asian girls does not make him non-racist. He could be racist towards Blacks and Hispanics.
So, as long as you do not think any one is inferior or should be discriminated against in work, education and other social opportunities and made to feel less than yourself, then you are not a racist.

I think comparing religion and race is absurd. You choose your religion. Your skin color is something you're born with.
But in general, yes, I do think it's racist to only date someone of your own race. I'm mixed myself so I see the total ridiculousness of classifying people based skin color, as if they're some discernible boundary. Who the hell cares about the level of melanin in your partner? What a weird thing to care about.

And what race is his Mom? Goes to show you that when the Mom is not the minority in the relationship, the kids are screwy when it comes to self-identify.

I'm a liberal Protestant Christian and I knew I did not want to marry an atheist, an evangelical Christian fundamentalist (or any kind of fundamentalist, for that matter), and that I was not willing to raise my children Catholic. Those were dealbreakers for me.
Not racist if you're not attracted to anyone from a particular race....give me a break. you can't help who you're attracted to.
I'm catholic and draw the line at atheist, muslim, hindu and buddhist. open to any other.

Go to Thailand and he's not seen as black- he is seen as Thai. People take ownership of others with great skills, based on similarities they self-identify.

I tell you what...if Tiger wasn't the amazing young phenom that he was (at age 2 he appeared on the "Mike Douglas Show" and putted with Bob Hope; at age 3 he shot 48 for 9 holes; and at age 5 he was featured in Golf Digest) he wouldn't have been seen as bi- or multi-racial. Don't get it twisted...popularity can provide black people some pretty nice perks (including a coveted "ethnicity pass") but not everybody can be famous can they.
