I think it's cruel to make a dog sleep outside.
What's more important OP...The carpet and your sofa or your precious pets?
Thought so.
Animals hate being outdoors when it rains just like humans do.
My dogs won't even go out to pee when it rains. Can you really blame them?
Don't fool yourself.

The fact that they enjoy being outside (like kids do) or have fur is not an indication that they are equipped to live outside or are meant to do so. Most dogs have a fur coat that is equivalent to the protection of long underwear in the winter. It won't keep them from freezing or even keep them warmer than that long underwear would keep you warm. Some dogs like Dobermans, Grayhounds, and other thincoated breeds do not even have that level of protection.
It's ridiculous to say that dogs lived outside for thousands of years. There are no modern dogs equivalent to wild ancient wolves which were five times as big. It's like saying Mastodons did certain things, so why can't elephants too.
Finally, it's simply illegal to have your dog live outside.
that is stupid. an undercoat and an outercoat is much warmer than long underwear. Dogs are the same size as modern wolves, who do not live in Holiday Inns. You are an idiot.
different PP here. I don't think the PP who says it's like long underwear understands how an undercoat and outercoat works. I also don't think that PP has ever had a breed of dog that has that type of fur and is, actually, equipped to endure extreme temperatures.

they 100% vote to be outside.
