If it is a "conservative" area by NOVA standards then it is likely as close to a balanced neighborhood that you are going to get in Fairfax County.

I would choose 22152, 22015, or 22003 over 22039. More walkable, famil friendly. More to do near home. Great schools.

6:54 here again. In response to any thoughts about 22039:

I searched in that zip code sometimes, but it wasn't really a target area for us. There are lots of neighborhoods feeding into that zip and I recall some feed into 22032 elementary schools and Robinson or Woodson (I think areas closer to Braddock road) and others feed to South County and its feeder ES/MS (I think farther down 123). I am not as familar w/ South County and its feeders.

For those 22039 neighborhoods feeding into 22032 elementaries (maybe just Oak View?), and Woodson/Robinson, the neighborhoods just seem far away from the schools. A bit of a deterrent for us, even if silly. Also, I have heard whispering about redistricting. Some day it would never happen because those neighborhoods would be in an uproar and "be heard" but it was enough chatter to make me consider the zip only casually. Maybe someone else more in the know can speak to the redistricting fodder.

Nice house, good schools (they don't need to be the best, but good) and a reasonable commute to DC.
