It would be absolutely a poor decision to close streets etc due to a visit from Obama, you can forget about anyone trying to get to work if they have to travel near and around that area. A very poor call indeed, do you know how much disruption a visit like this causes to traffic on a normal day?

so if school is open and kid's cannot get there due to street/weather conditions, will the absences be unexcused?

I just got a call from my child's school about a very very important person visiting the school and incoming us about security and a street closure.

Many middle schools and high schools depend on public buses.

Several hip, young teachers in our school live in Petworth and Columbia Heights and take a bus that will not be in service tomorrow because it can't get down the side streets.
