Yeah, Paige isn't really 'classic' at all. It didn't even enter the top 1000 names until 1952 and peaked in 2003 as 47 (it's been going down ever since). It's a nice name, but it started getting popular in the 90s - kind of like Samantha, Alyssa, etc. If anything, I'd say Audrey is the classic name (it's never fallen below 300 since 1895).

Exactly, the name is timeless and classic. Not everyone needs to name their kids Ava and Emma. I'm 28.

My sister has a 16 year old Sadie, 18 year old Abby and a 22 year old Hannah. She was several years ahead of those names (Hannah and Abby) getting crazy popular! All sweet, smart and pretty girls.

I like Abby, Sadie and Paige equally.

Paige. Especially since your dd is Lucy. You don't want two sing song-y names.

OP here. Abigail is just OK. I just feel like we'll end up calling her Abby from day one and that will be her "name" from here on out. I currently go by my nickname and have since the day I was born. I often wish my parents would have just named me my nickname.

But does your nickname sound like a nickname? I have a friend whose parents named her Jenny, not Jennifer. She hates it. On formal documents (resumes, legal documents-- she is a lawyer), she thinks it looks silly to have Jenny A. Smith. Again, I think some "nicknames" have morphed into full names so this is not really a concern.

DH is in this situation too--nickname on the birth certificate. It's pretty maddening; people just assume his real name must be the long form (to the point that we've had important paperwork that's had to be completely redone after some well-intentioned person figured he'd just neglected to write his full name). Consequently, our kids have full names even though we never use them. Silly, maybe, but we get asked regularly if their nicknames are short for [full name.] Yes, yes they are!

I have an Abby... not Abigail, it is really ok!
