Can someone clarify who the young woman was hanging out with Prince of Wales on the episode? She accompanied him to Rose's ball and made him dance the first dance with Rose.
I agree about Edith. She's become a sad sack character, which is annoying. I thought her path was going to take an interesting turn in terms of quasi-professional development. Maybe she'd become a journalist, maybe she'd become a newspaper editor. Maybe she'd move to London and start living her lown life there. But no, instead there's a stupid plot line about her disappearing man and the sad plot line about her baby. Her idea of giving it to the tenant farmer and hoping nobody notices she's always down there visiting is just stupid.
I loved Carson in this episode, and his huffing, tut-tutting, eyebrow-raising, and humphing. The end scene with him and Mrs. Hughes was very sweet.
I don't love Daisy but I was happy for her and laughed when she said she was so "chuffed." And I am THRILLED to say goodbye to the annoying Ivy.
Mary is opportunistically now highly interested in Blake, since she now knows he's going to be rich. Ugh. I wish Mary would have some of Edith's bad luck and Edith could catch many of the breaks that Mary catches.
The portrayal of the Americans was kind of irritating. Too caricatured. For example, Harold would know not to just introduce himself to the prince. All Americans are not country bumpkins, Julian Fellowes. But the American manservant was hilarious, especially when he was asking Carson for the low-down on whether Daisy was attached or not.![]()
I agree with the PP who said that the schoolteacher is annoying. Tom deserves much better! I loved the way Tom bitchslapped the oily Thomas back to his proper place.
It's time we find out what Thomas has on Baxter. They've been dragging it out all season and never revealed it. What's her past??
As usual, loved the dresses!
Agree with your entire post! I'm tired of the English portraying all Americans as loud, brash characters. Such a cliche, though at least Cora isn't portrayed that way. And I dislike the schoolteacher too. Tom is way too good for her. She's clearly sizing him up at every turn and judging this family he's married into. She seems much more interested in Tom than he does in her. Hope she goes away.
No, she's just portrayed as a simpering idiot...

I like to watch Moseley bloom under Baxter's attention.
The subplot with the letter was stupid but shut up Mary about Bates.
If I were Tony Gillingham or Charles Blake, I would tell Mary (the total c**k teaser) to stuff it

Lord G to Lady G: I do wish Tom had come.
Lady G: It's so nice to hear you say that!
Lord G: He's bringing Isis and I've missed her.
Wait is Isis that teacher? Sorry, don't like her at all. And WTH, making Tom take her up to the bedroom hallway 'to look down onto the gallery' . She knew she was putting him in a compromising position. Bitch.

Oh God yes. She is the most annoying character ever. I hate how everything she says sounds like a question.
That's the Yorkshire accent (and lots of other northern English, Scottish, Northern Irish accents), love it or not.

I think we're all aware Daisy has a Yorkshire accent. Still annoying.

Well, that's the way she's supposed to talk. People from Yorkshire have that inflection. It's like saying you hate a southern accent on someone in a series set in the south. Do you expect her to have some posh accent? That would not make sense at all. Maybe you'd like Duck Dynasty better.

Anonymous wrote:I hate to say it, Mr. Blake is short. I try to ignore that and focus on his other traits, he seems lacking in sex appeal. I can see him as a dear friend to Mary. Lord Gilliham just doesn't seem to be Mary's equal. I also miss Matthew. My vote is for Evelyn Napier. Hopefully, season five will introduce more eligible men. Isn't it time for Rose to go back home.
I think Bates is somehow involved in Green's death or he just witnessed it. Maybe he was running away after spotting an angry, glaring Bates and accidentally ran out into the street. Mrs. Hughes did warn him that Mr. Bates didn't know it was him but if he did know... Bates sure did seem sensitive when both Mrs. Hughes and Mary made London visit comments. And he was concerned about what he left in his coat pocket. It's odd a couple of episodes ago when he asked Green where he lives, neither Mrs. Hughes or Anna seem to pay any attention.
