Call it what you like, this is a "every man for himself" situation.

I don't see this as being a big deal. Does 10 feel better? Perhaps the room they'd used was booked at a different time? Move in to other worries...

Huh? The quoted email from Louise Archer above says that the meeting is this Tues. The referrals were originally due 2/3 (which is after that meeting date) and now are due 2/7 (which is also after that meeting date). Grab a calendar, friend.

Um, yeah. But I'm not at Louise Archer. And our school hasn't said *anything* about *any* meeting. If the school is going to be helpful to parents in terms of preparing a referral, they need to get a date on the calendar quickly so that people can a) make time in their schedules for the meeting, and b) have some time to get letters together, etc.

I'm not even complaining for myself; I've been to those meetings in the past, and my kid is in-pool. so it doesn't matter to me this year. However, I was in a different position a few years ago, and I know that having the meeting well in advance of the referral deadline gave me time to get specific info from the AART and arrange for all the letters of recommendation. Despite the posted info from the county, I was clueless about what would really help in the packet; the AART steered me away from some material I would have included, which was very helpful.

Sorry, you're still confusing. How in the world does having a meeting before the due-date help you have time to get letters together, etc.? Those on this board already know about letter due-dates. Oh - and all schools I know of have an informational meeting in the fall. So this is a second, supplemental meeting. This isn't' the first and only meeting days before a deadline.

True, maybe run 2 meetings to accommodate different schedules.

This is ridiculous. You seriously think the school should have two meetings to accommodate different schedules? We don't do that with anything else. If you can't go - tell the school. If you can, go. Isn't this life?
