Has been getting progressively meh over the past few years, and progressively snobbier. I'm taking a break from it for a while. Too much money for snobby meh.
Enjoyed an awesome dinner at Majestic, however, a few weeks ago.
IMHO.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Obelisk. We went last March and it was so wonderful. They did a wonderful job accommodating me as a vegetarian.
I think Rasika is WAY overrated. I don't know why people love it. I think it is some of the worst Indian food I've ever had. And I love the fancy Indian restaurants in NYC, it's not that I don't like the genre. I just don't think it is done well at all. Horrible.

Haha, I thought the same thing. Then again, I have been disappointed one too many times by $30-40 fancy entrees, even at some of these "best restaurants," so I tend to stick to less flashy places and ethnic foods I can't make as easily at home now. Also, I live in Arlington and find I stay there most often, even for nicer dinners. Judge away but being a hip city hopper is too much of a hassle for me now.![]()

Yeah, I guess the question is how far you really want to push this. The only two restaurants I actually missed in DC when I moved away for 6 years were Ben's Chili Bowl and Potbellys. But is probably going a bit far to call them the "best."
Best does not mean fanciest.
