+1.
When I was a waitress, we had a regular who complained about not getting a bonus as big as she had usually gotten. No more tequila shots for her!

The above was me. My boss brought up a bonus today, I think he was really nervous. H told me he feels bad but it's been really slow the last two months and he can't afford to give me a bonus, but he'd like to give me one at my one year anniversary in march. So I'll check back with you all in about three months. He's still talking about having me to his house for dinner. I'm trying to drop food hints where possible throught the work week.

$95K, no bonus, no raise, no COLA. I work for a nonprofit fed contractor, for the last 12 years. The last time I saw a salary increase was when I was hired into my old boss' position 3.5 years ago. The last time I actually got a merit-based pay increase was the last time my company gave any out, which was back in 2006 I think. For 2014, they decided to cut our benefits substantially - retirement contribution cut in half, leave time cut back.

Does your spouse make more than $400,000 or something? Otherwise, it's not possible for your bonus to be cut "nearly" in half. You'd have 25% withholding plus FICA, so it would be reduced by a third.

our HHI is about 250k. I ran a calculator online, and I am told my 10k bonus will net me $5800. I hope that is wrong.

It's not. Sorry.

$51,000/year plus health insurance. The insurance is priceless if you ask me since I've paid out of pocket for it for years. I'm a teacher so no bonus but we are getting lunch this Friday and one of my students gave me a Rudolph stuffed animal. I teach at a Title 1 school so I usually don't get any gifts.

I think I'm likely to be the one to spring for some Munchkins and a Box o' Coffee, since I'm actually doing better than the dozen or so junior colleagues of mine. Hohoho

You are a good guy.
