Nobody is getting it . because in chocolate city DC, although far less chocolate these days, they have chosen stock photos of multiracial instead of black kids, marketing wise it send a pretty strong message to brown kids and their parents. That message explicit or not is "we don't see you here". Look up implicit bias...and even microagressions like not having a brown kids rep you in the photos of your school become much more clear.

There was no school when the website was designed. It was literally 6 people sitting around a living room.

^^i am the one who resurrected the thread to revisit this question. i agree somewhat with what you are saying, but when i looked at the photos, there are actually no photos of Black or White kids--just like black-ish and white-ish and Asian. So someone was misguided in trying to market "diversity." if I had seen some lily White kids and no Black kids, i personally would be more concerned. then again, i am looking for reasons to not like the school!

The need to update the website photos is on the school's radar and they are planning to make some changes. They can't use current students' pictures because they do not have permission from parents to use the photos in this way. Using any other photos involves purchasing additional stock pictures. actually I am very much interested in the school and given my good wl number I am desperate to like it but keep coming across bothersome anecdotes like the one mentioned in this thread. it makes me wonder. so I am investigating on a variety of fronts.

Here are the diversity scores people are talking about.
People refer to the good score academically performing not related to diversity , where can that be gauged?
The PCSB does not have that information until a school has been in operation for 3+ years. Anyone who says they are judging on test scores or grades is incorrect. Schools like MV and CM just don't have that info.

Actually the school has to have a 3rd grade. They can get scores in 2nd year (see IT) if they had a 3rd grade.
They haven't finished their second year yet.
That was my point. PP said you have to be open for 3 years, I was informing her that wasn't the case, you have to have. 3rd grade class for testing, it does not have to be 3 years
