I knew someone personally who lost part of their foot in a lawnmower accident. I’ve read stores of people losing fingers. They’re not toys.

Siy anecdote, but I'd mentioned to my husband's cousin that my 11 yo helped mow the lawn, and she asked if she could borrow his steel toes for her son. I was like "what?" She went on to tell me kids can't operate a lawn mower without steel toed boots.

To mow off your toes, you'd have to fall down, slide your body forward under the mower, while still gripping the handle with both hands to keep the blade engaged. I can't picture even the most boneheaded of children accomplishing this.

I can! What you need a second child. From anywhere. Wandering up the street. Wants to try the lawn mower. I could also imagine an enterprising kid alone who rigged the handle to keep it running.

I started with one lawn and it grew to well over 500 by the time i graduated high school.

I say let the kids do it, kids these days are too lazy.

I call BS on this post.

I took over moving the lawns my older brother moved at age 10. He was found to be allergic to cut grass so I made a lot of money that summer.
