I think that people who pay for privates are also paying a premium for the selective admissions/peer group. Few of the kids at Mann belong to country clubs, compete in regattas, etc. Few private school classrooms have one or two disruptive kids who consume a disproportionate share of the teacher's time.


I think the more correct description would be "few private school classrooms have one or two POOR disruptive kids..."

You don't always have to live in the neighborhood to join. We attend a JKLM that has many families who belong to pools in MD such as Bannockburn, Palisades, Bethesda, Merrimack etc.

Sitwell grad here--hahaha regattas. Lol, no. Disruptive kids in class, you bet. The more money and influence the family has, the more bullshit they tolerate from the kid, at least until upper school.
