I always drive barefoot on long trips. OP, what's your problem? You seem to really have it in for this teen driver you profess to care so much about.

I think it says a lot about how gross op's feet must be for her to have the heebie jeebies like this.

I wear heels. I drive barefoot. My feet are cleaner than public bathrooms or anywhere else shoes walk. I'd never get out barefoot. (brittney in the fastfood bathroom. Now that's gross).

your shoes still have a flat contact surface with large area that can control the pedal, your feet do not, you have a few discrete contact areas such as toes, ball of foot, etc.

but what do I know, I only have thousands of miles of high speed driver training courses and on track experience?

barefoot driving is illegal, btw, in certain states under the DMV code (or at least used to be).

very stupid idea.

Good lord. Pedals are usually textured to provide more friction between the foot and the pedal. Even when they're not, a foot has more traction on a plastic pedal cover than the sole of a smooth leather dress shoe any day. If anything, you have more control without the hard, less-sensitive covering of shoes. It's like putting on gloves -- sure they give you protection, but your hands are less nimble and sensitive. And you have a problem if you're using the arch of your foot to control your car, with our without a shoe, but there's no reason to think that you're any worse off without the shoe.

In fact, if you have so much "high speed driver training courses," surely you've heard of heel-and-toe shifting? If you've ever tried the technique without shoes you'd know it's much easier.

Well, now she, and everyone else, knows about your mental problems OP. You are one whackadoodle.

It's fine til her foot slips and causes an accident (off the brake, or off the gas, or from one to other).

Terrible, terrible driving technique.

I don't really care about the dirt aspect at all, it's her possibility of killing herself or others that matters.

Sounds like you're backtracking on your rationale, OP!

That was not the OP's post.

re-checked -- it is legal but not recommended and you could be subject to citation for negligent driving or reckless... the driver training I took made it pretty clear that you would be likely to be cited for negligent driving if you were pulled over and were barefoot...

I'm still waiting for a statistic showing barefoot driving to be a cause of crashes. I'd settle for "a crash". I suspect this will not be forthcoming...

1. Its unsafe to drive like that.

2. Your feet are dirty, then theyre on the pedals, then you put shoes back on, then the pedal dirt is in your shoes! EW

1. Stat on that?

2. As opposed to walking on your floor and then putting your shoes on? Unless you live in isolation room your "clean" floors are filthy and then you put your shoes on. (Do we need to discuss dust mites and they bugs that live at the base of your eyelashes?)

And if you do live in an isolation room, then aren't your feet clean, which would mean your pedals are clean too?

Reminds me of the lady behind us at the Nats game who put her disgusting, calloused feet up on the empty seats in front of her (thereby affording me a up close view when I turned my head to the left).

Now THAT was ewww!!!!

And I hope her mother rips you a new one for dissecting her behavior (and her appearance) in an online forum.

Yes I have a car. Why would I hate on a 17 yr old with special needs.

You don't seem to mind talking shit about her though...

I'm not talking shit about her, I'm just saying. Truth hurts. Honestly, shes kinda chubby, but I guess in that "attractive" way, she wears no shoes in the car, and she dresses like Nancy Botwin from Weeds. TBH she always looks "stylish" and put together, but her being a bit pretty doesn't do anything about the fact that she is absolutely disgusting because of this car driving bare foot thing.

Eww. Im even more grossed out just thinking about it. Reminds me of thinking about maggots or flies!

What the hell is wrong with you, OP? You're an adult coming on to a website where you can trash a teenager? Get a life, and some help for your OCD. Seriously.
