You are wrong. It is one way to demonstrate a robust curriculum, but it is not required. The anti-Core group has falsely claimed that it is a requirement for things such as Race to the Top. But it is not required.

One of the first things I learned as a teacher was to evaluate where my students were--then to create goals and objectives that met the standards set by the school system. CC may allow for this--and it may not.

Yes...teachers' unions have been at odds with the Obama administration, other Democrats, and ed reformers in general on a number of issues. What's your point? There are a number of Republicans who do support CC and actually many of Obama's ed priorities. It's nice to see some bipartisanship somewhere, although it's more at the state level than at the national.

My point, was to point out that this isn't your standard Tea Party hates Obama debate as the originators of this thread probably tried to make it. And that there's a variaty of stakeholders that don't normally take the same sides who are opposed to CC.

Personally, I couldn't care less about this issue.
