Yes . We get it. Do you understand how a young child might see a character being raised by a non bio mom and get confused? It's hard enough for adults to understand the logistics of adoption.
You explain she was kidnapped and is held against her will for her hair. It has zero to do with adoption! No, I don't see how a 4 yo would conflate abusive kidnapping with adoption.

However, my sister (biological) used to scream at my parents when she didn't get her way: "You're not my real family. My real family loves me. They're going to come for me one day and you're going to be in so much trouble." If your child already thinks along these lines - that she's a victim and everyone's out to get her, then this could add fuel to the fire, but if yours is a little more sane, then nothing to worry about with the film. It's a more feminist version of the Rapunzel story, so I would definitely show it to my daughter.

If you don't have adopted children, then you may not be as sensitive to such an issue, or you probably don't even see an issue.
+1. Not sure why people are being so mean and dismissive. Kids think differently and adoption IS complex-- I'm not an adoptive mom, but I can understand given all the issues around adoption why a parent would be sensitive about it, and I can imagine a young girl in a snit yelling that her mom is an evil thief and her real mom wouldn't do ___.
+2 from an adoptive mom
