+1. we are at another JKLM school, 2nd grade and so far no bullying, no candy, no TV, in a class with 21 kids (similar number the previous years). DC loves school, teachers and administrators. and guess what? we did not have to shell out $120K in the past four years alone..........

Ugh. We, too, have spent endless hours literally teaching our kids the basics/ bottom line of their homework. Left on their own, they'd leave 85% of the HW undone or done completely wrong because they just don't learn how to do it in school.
Everyday of every single year for 4 years--- Both of our kids come home with very little idea of how to do any of their assigned work.
Perhaps BOTH of our kids are below average but I doubt it. With our help, they learn well and seem so relieved when they understand.
Is is consistently bad teachers who never leave and don't get let go?
Is it the over crowding?
Is it the ridiculous open air classrooms that make it impossible to concentrate?


Whatever it is, it happens every year. To top it off, we hear WAY to much about Bullying, seriously inappropriate conduct (for elementary) and terrible language. Yes, every school has some bullying and poor language, that's life but Lafayette
seems plagued by these issues that seem over the top and way beyond what should be condoned in ANY elementary school!

We want our kids in a public school because a certain amount of these unpleasant issues and how to deal with them is a great lesson in itself. What we've seen, heard and delt with is way more that
we bargained for when we moved here for the cute, Idylic looking neighborhood and public school.

We are looking forward to life after grade 5.....it's been brutal.

I'm been letting some criticism of Lafayette's principal go. However, I just removed a message which contained what I would describe as a personal attack. I am generally not comfortable with anonymous attacks on named individuals. This is particularly true with personal attacks. If you want to go beyond the limited criticism that I will allow, please provide easily verifiable information about your own identity. In that case, you can criticize all you want.

Lafayette parent here: trust me- parents have complained at length and nothing ever seems to get done. A group of parents actually tried to get her replaced.

If Principal Main does not address these issues then she should move on and the school should get a new leader. It's too much.

Hell, this isn't the case in our JKLMM school!

I was mostly reading this thread re: bullying. I have to say that I don't see any of that in my children's school. But my children are a bit younger. We do have some mean moms, however, so I'm just waiting to see how their daughters end up!!!
