We manage just fine and manage to save and have international vacations. Expensive house but paid half down so mortgage reasonable. Non-lavish lifestyle though - husband dresses like a tramp but then he relishes wearing the same clothes for years on end. We buy our cars for cash so no debt and we keep them for 10 years.

No new cars (we keep our paid for cars in great working condition and they are not fancy to begin with), we live in a SMALL house in Silver Spring, our vacations are very, very simple. We just dont live a lavish lifestyle. Plus, our bills/overhead is not tremendous (no student loans anymore, thank goodness).
We make the same, and we feel financially fine. We max out our 401ks, have close to $100K for college, have a year of safety net, and manage to shop at WF without stressing. I wonder what do people do with their money??? Our take home is over $10k monthly, and we spend 3k for tuition, 3k for mortgage PITI, leaving 4K for food and other goods. We don't have family money, either.
If you are only paying $3K a month in tuition, then you aren't sending 2+ kids to private school without FA. Parochial school doesn't count.

Thanks. Though I did great at excellent schools, should have picked a different field.
Which field did you pick? If you're happy in it, that's worth almost more than
anything.
