Seriously, the fact that we are debating it at all is indication that it is offensive to at least a good number of people. I'm one of them. The Bullets changed their name and the sky didn't fall in. Its a slur and its offensive.
Eventually they will change the name. It will happen. Its just a question of when.

I bet you're a PETA radical, too. Irritates the sh*t out of me.
Really, you are so limited that you can only think of one thing at a time. Which name would offend you if it was called the nigs, kites, spics, pollacks, wops, rednecks, crackers, PWTs, etc. Exactly which name would touch home for you PP. The name should be changed. It is derogatory and unacceptable.

Maybe because I've never heard anyone EVER refer to American Indians as "redskins". So I guess I've just assumed the meaning in today's vernacular has changed. If someone says "Hey, how about those Redskins", does it ever occur to you they AREN'T talking about football?

They could serve red skinned mash potatoes and make a "we will smash you" type of message? They could make the transition over 10 years two they could sell inventory and have plenty of time to transfer to the Redskins' new graphic.
Are you with me? We could have a signature DC Redskins mashed potatoes recipe and the dish could be sold at the stadium. The Syracuse University Orangemen's mascot is a giant orange. I am sure the team could get hints from their transition from a Dutch Orangeman to a big orange.

So all the songs where they use the word n*gger- showing disrespect? In that is the case, I have a lot of offensive music on my ipod (thanks, Ice Cube!)!
Anonymous wrote:No. If you use the word n*gger in any way it's disrespectful. Same as ret*rd and ch*nk and f*g. Same as redskin. Bigoted language is bigoted language. You don't get to change its meaning if you use a nice tone of voice or surround it with be words.
