Doesn't forbid but an elf is Xmas related and we don't celebrate Xmas.


Elf is middle Earth related. It has nothing to do with Christmas, nor does this false "tradition."

Maccabee on the Mantel has been the cutest one we found. I first saw The Mensch but was not sure if the kids would like it. Maccabee still has availability and it doesn't model itself too much on the elf.

The best option for a Jewish version is the Gelt Giving Golem. He gives gelt for children each morning, if they behave, and he can be manipulated like the Elf into fun positions. It is available now on kickstarter.
