But isn't that Fauquier County?

Shiela Johnson and Middleburg is Loudoun.

Shiela Johnson's "city" home is in Country Clubs Hills, Arlington, VA. She is married to an Arlington County judge and has to have a "domicle" in the county.

I guess this makes it even harder for the OP to settle her argument with her colleague. I call it a draw.

Land Value. Land Value is much higher in Arlington. That is what it boils down to. The labor cost and materials are virtually the same. In fact, there are likely premiums to build in Arlington, due to access and site constraints.

Anonymous wrote:Yeah I always thought Loudoun was highly ranked because of the Mellons, duPonts, Kent Cooks in Upperville and Middleburg. Take a drive on some of those back roads some day. Thousands of acres per estate and airfields, people. But I'm pretty sure they're not the kinds of people to argue about who's richer. Talk about tacky.

They have a negligible effect on median household income, though.

Overall wealth? Sure -- there's plenty of that in southwestern Loudoun.

But it's the solid core of 100-200k households that make Loudoun the richest county in terms of median HHI. Consider the jobs that exist along 267 from Leesburg on through Arlington.

Upperville is Fauquier. Middleburg is Loudoun.
