I just had to start dieting this past week. When all I want to do while stuck on the house all day is rip open the Halloween candy and go to town.

I didn't want to break my workout streak (I work out daily and have missed 5-6 days this year) so I had to run 3 miles on the crappy treadmill in my basement while watching a VHS tape on the ancient TV/VCR combo I keep down there.

And like the OP, I started to go a little nutty because my kid wanted to watch kid TV ALL DAY and I would liked to have watched something interesting that I hadn't seen 25 times before.

Blizzard of '96! Memories! I was still in high school, so we were drinking whatever we could sneak out of the house to go "sledding" at Battery Kimble.

I'm watching a movie on demand and my power keeps flickering. Everytime it does I have to wait for the cable box to start up again.

We forgot to get vodka. All we have is tequila. No limes. Sigh.

This reminds me of my favorite story from the blizzard of '96, when I was 23 and living in a group house full of drinkers (me included.) Once we drank everything else in the house, my roommate Bill poured a water glass full of Cuervo gold at midday. That was disturbing enough to prompt a super-snowy, two-miles-each-way treck to Talbert's for reinforcements.

DH is drinking my wine because he ran out of beer and I'm pretty annoyed by it.

The power has switched on and off briefly twice this afternoon and evening here inAU Park making it necessary to reset the flashing LED clock on the Viking. I have to find the owner's manual to figure out how to do it.

It's all windy so I don't feel like walking to the apartment complex's gym and working out. I mean, what if a tree limb manages to find me in the 2 minutes I'll be outside, right? So instead of running I'll be eating brownies and ice cream, because I also stocked up on baked goods just in case the power went out. Which it hasn't.

I didn't get my phone fully charged back up before the power went out. Might have to make do with having actual conversation with my DH tonight. Or worse. Shudder.

(Kidding about the second part of course. Good thing I've been sterilized.)

Haha! Totally! I'm doing this too, but with an iPhone. I'm way more disadvantaged than you. And I'm so inconvenienced by bringing my phone and charger with me when I switch rooms.

I still have power (and my building has a generator) but I'm keeping my iPad plugged in so that I'm at 100% should the electricity go out. But this means I have to lean at an awkward angle while playing on it, lounging on the couch and watching tv and sipping on my cocktail.

I WISH we would lose power, because the neighbors have started blasting music. Some spanish-language ballad crap. That big tree can't come down fast enough.
