Btw, this forum is not a good place to ask such questions. There is a strong anti-clothing bias on this forum - i.e. it's ok to splurge on everything except clothing.

+1

DC is notorious for not giving a hoot about fashion. You'd probably get a very different group of responses on an NYC forum.

No. I wouldn't spend that on any clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. Can spend that on something way more important.

No buttons? So it's supposed to be super insanely warm, but with a draft?

No, I wouldn't, but we have not finished saving for our kids' college educations.

I bought one for $178 once. I still have it, it's a good sweater. But I regret it. It's like a short sleeved sweater blazer. Not that practical.

OP- I love Vince and this sweater. It is versatile and I think you would wear it a lot. If you can afford it then go for it!

You are either rich OR middle income with a paltry 401k. Please tell us which!!

Hi, pp here. I wouldn't call myself rich...I'd say comfortable. I am also a firm believer in buying clothes that make you feel really good. I happen to look great in this dress. I also spent $60 on shoes rather than the $300 I wanted to spend. My 401k among other investments and assets are just fine, but I'm glad your mind went there. I make choices. I don't eat out a lot, don't waste money on cheap clothes and I won't wear for a long time, and could always sell it to a consignment shop to recover some of my costs. Not all of my dresses are $700.

Was it a wedding dress?
To the OP: I would not, even if I had billions of dollars. But I don't like to spend much on clothes or on things that have a reasonable replacement for less money.

Hi, pp here. No, it was a dress to wear to a black tie wedding.

If I were rich and it wasn't a trendy item but more of a classic that I could wear for more than one season, then yes. Me with my life now? Hell no!!

I would try Zara for sweaters like that.

I'd consider it for something really great. But then again, fashion is my hobby.
