No I have never worn one. The only people I see wearing them are Academy Grads...good for them. Going to an academy for college is stricter than being in prison. For people who endured the torture, they deserve to wear the ring.

I suppose if I graduated from an Ivy, I might be tempted to wear one; otherwise...no way.

I stopped wearing my HS ring in HS. You'd never know my college ring was one, unless we went to the same school. I mostly just wear it when I go to alumnae events.

I think my HS one is in my jewelry box. It was not a traditional style. I wouldn't wear it but might give it to my kids.

I went to TX A&M and getting your ring is a huge deal. Many/most people still wear them - even decades later - they have a distinct style. It's a way to recognize fellow Aggies and also useful for networking, to be honest.

I don't wear mine though.

I never got one. Seemed stupid and a waste of money.

Class rings are more of a tradition at some school than others. DD goes to UVA, and it is a big thing to get during your 3rd year. DS goes to a different school where class rings are not popular.

I have one. Ivy League. Graduated in early 2000s.

I get the impression they were much more popular for earlier generations and earlier decades but became less popular as time went on. I was in the period when many got rings and many didn't. My parents paid for mine and I never wore it. My parents, college grads of the late 1960s, thought it was important to receive a college ring as a symbol of your achievement and to maintain the connection to your alma mater, but but that's the culture they grew up in. I balked at the cost of the ring, above $300 at a time when it really was a lot of money, probably comparable to $500 today. I remember thinking the ring seemed a bit cheap when it arrived and that it was a ripoff.

I still have it somewhere.

Many women's college grads wear theirs - they are distinctive and a big deal. Have a friend who wears her mom's Wellesley ring, for ex(friend did not go there). In this area, have met women from Hood college, when it was a women's colleague had a distinctive pinky ring. Wonder if they still have a ring tradition as a coed school. same with the former Randolph-Macon women's college, I don't even know what it's called now but they had a classy ring.

I agree with USNA. Our CEO (multi-millionaire) is a USNA grad, and always wears his (a HUGE sapphire in the center). He's very proud of his alumni status, and it also signals to other USNA graduates within his extended social circle. I think many of them (especially in DC/VA/MD are USNA grads as well.

Yes, I wear my college. It's a gold onyx signet ring and looks pretty classic. Getting a class ring was a big deal at my private college, with a dance, ring presentation ceremony, etc...

My HS did this too, though I didn't buy one. I can only imagine the schools get a big kickback?
