We live in Pimmit Hills and it's full of Indians. In fact, I think there are 3 Indian families on our block alone.

I'm indian and I work with a lot of indians with school aged kids. Most of them live in Fairfax Station, the City of Fairfax, Chantilly, McLean and parts of Loudon county. I know a few that live in Woodbridge. Fairfax Station has a Durga Temple, and I know a lot of indians live relatively close to it (as do I). Younger indians that don't have kids generally live in Arlington, but once they have kids, they move out to the suburbs.

Can you tell me where in N. Arlington this is? Doesn't sound like anywhere I know.

Greenbriar West and Powell in Chantilly area are majority Asian, but just barely, and they have many East Asians students as well. That's still more diverse than much of NW DC or North Arlington - aka Upper Caucasia.

Diverse means lots of different types of people. So if an area is 93% Caucasian or 93% Asian, it lacks diversity.

S. Asian here, and that sounds like a gossipy nightmare!!

I am the poster you quoted and I honestly do not want to live here once my kids enter kindergarden. I grew up in the US in an area where there were not a lot of indian families. Most of the families who live here are immigrants who have had arranged marriages and I have a hard time relating to them even when we have kids the same age.

Not true for North Arlington. I find that I'm pretty much the only S. Asian (often the only minority) in most places in North Arlington.

There are not many minorities of any type in N. Arlington anymore!

True. Anyone care to tell me why? It isn't a money thing either because all of the freakishly wealthy Indian family's i know (i.e. those buying houses in the 2-4 million range) all bought in bethesda/potomac.

Arlington is prime SWPL territory. Wealthy South Asians - who may be more likely to work in the suburbs and have little need to travel into DC - look at Arlington and just see mostly small houses and small yards. Proximity to Metro is not so important to them.

South Arlington is home to a different demographic. The South Asians there are lower-income immigrants who've lived there for decades now. The cardiologist from India lives in Potomac or McLean; the cab-driver from Bangladesh lives in South Arlington.

cheers.

cheers for stereotyping one nationality as drs and the other as cab drivers?
