Does Leo Thomas sound nice?

Well ok then. Not a name scholar. Don't have kids. But most of the names I hear these days are new and different. So I guess I'm not so out of step. Thanks

#8 Alexander (was up to #4 nationally in 2009, and it's currently #2 in DC--popular enough for you?)
#26 Samuel (in the 20's since 1997; it's more popular today than any time in the 1900s; #20 in DC)
#56 Henry (and on the rise--it went up 10 places from 2010 to 2011; currently #7 in DC!)
#127 Richard
#229 Stephen (but Steven is #124)

Huh? Have you been under a rock? Go to any park with toddlers or elementary school playground where Kindergartners are playing. Shout out any of these 3 names. I guarantee several boys will be running in your direction.

LOVE the name Julian, but Leo sounds better with Hudson. Leo does sound like more of a "tougher" name though- kind of like the Bruce vs. Ashton issue...

Leo makes me think of an elderly Jewish man. It is hard to imagine this name for a baby.

Leo sounds better as a brother to Hudson, than Julian, imo.

I like both names. If I had to choose, I would prefer Julian because Leo sounds like a nickname to me. That's just my preference - in fact, that's the only reason Leo isn't on my list.

My son Julian is in middle school and has never had any issues with anyone teasing him because of his name or calling him "Julia" or saying he has a "girl" nmae. And I work at an elementary school as an administrator. I've met small number of Julians and they never had this issue either.

My nephew Julian has had the opposite experience. He doesn't live here though, he's in New England.

Just Leo? It sounds like a nickname. How about giving him a full name for which Leo is the nickname? But I don't like Leonard or Leonardo.

Julian is the obvious choice.
