How do we know he doesn't like the Steelers, vice a personal vendetta against the homeowner? Also, of the scary things you mention, I think several qualify here...harassment, stalking, and breaking into someone's home (well property- he had to scale a secured fence).

I can think of many things other than murder that's scary...harassment, threats, stalking and breaking into someone's house come to mind. A , probably drunk, guy ripping down a flag of a team he dislikes doesnt even cross my mind about being scary. Annoying? Yes. Scary? No. And considering the police don't seem to ve doing much, it must register pretty low on their crime scale as well.

Why are people so focused on the presumed age of the thief? Who cares? If he's under 21 or 25 or 30, which we have no idea, by the way, that somehow makes it better, less egregious? I don't follow.

No. Not "anyithing". Specifically, a kid stealing a football banner.off he side of a garage is not scary. The fact at there are hundreds of other scary things, none of which is "theft of football banner" underscores the overreaction.

I'm on the CP listserve, and this post slayed me. Yes, it's a theft, but really, the overly dramatic claim is just too, too much. I can easily picture the victim clutching her pearls and wiping her brow with her hanky. A little perspective is needed, here.

When I clicked on this thread, and then read the OP, I thought it was clearly a joke. Like "can you believe this woman actually posted this on the listserv??" Only to find out that you're serious? And then clicking on the youtube video of what is clearly a young kid in a golf shirt and bermuda shorts yanking down a banner. YOU THOUGHT THAT WAS SCARY? Good lord woman, move to Idaho.

I used to have a rival baseball team's fan who lived next door when I was in college. He stole my baseball sign so many times I lost count (sign hanging by a window). Never really cared since I knew it was just a dumb rival sports thing.
Now the neighbor we had post-grad who would stalk us, prevent us from opening our door, and threaten to kill my roommate...that was scary.

Let me try writing this more slowly. THIS. ISN'T. SCARY. Not in comparison to other things that go on in this city. It's disrespectful, sure. But - it's a petty property crime. A petite violation at BEST.

I would not be afraid of someone who walks into my yard to steal a banner. Especially not if I baited the thief, knowing full well it would be stolen. With video cameras. Twice.

This is a city that has seen real violence. Something stolen from the outside of a house, sorry, is NOTHING. Let's please not be so fucking melodramatic.
