Give My Love to Rose
On the Evening Train

Can't listen to either song without tearing up.

As a mother who has buried a young child "tears in heaven" has touched me like no other song out there. Ive left full grocery carts, dentist appointments and department stores upon hearing it. I just can't process that song in public yet. <3 it though.

Forgot about Fire and Rain- is the story correct that the song is about his girlfriend who died in an airplane crash- how his friends had paid to get her to see James Taylor to see him (I guess this was before he was wealthy?)..

Not according to Wikipedia.

The Flying Machine in pieces on the ground is a reference to a band of his, not an airplane crash.

Seasons of Love, from Rent. My sister recently died and I played this song repeatedly. Sad but also cathartic.

In a bit of a different vein, any of you ever heard the song "Kilkelly, Ireland"? It is based on actual letters written between a father and one of his sons who left Ireland during the potato famine to find work in America. It's really lovely, but I always end up sobbing at the end.
