I don't know why people always assume those with Keurigs want good coffee. We want caffeine, in single serve portions, as quickly and conveniently as possible. We have spouses with vastly different tastes in hot beverages: black vs flavored, caff vs decaf, or even coffee vs tea.

If I wanted good coffee I'd be buying fancy beans straight from the civet's backside, home roasting, burr grinding, and carefully brewing in a $400 pour-over machine digitally hacked to maintain perfect water temperature.

I agree with Mcjudger, a rediculous waste of plastic every time you make one cup. I got this as a gift and it was hard to look pleased because all I could think about was how much waste it was going to create, but after a quick online search I found the reusable cups but had the same problem of weak coffee...

We use the refillable cups and fill them with coffee to the brim. It makes very strong coffee that way. Also try espresso coffee. It makes the machine drip slower

Keurig sucks. We went back to our good old fashion French press for a proper cup of Java.

This is a really old thread. Just google for tips and let it die.

These pods can be used with the Keurig but don't have the plastic cup that is so wasteful. Just a plastic lid and filter pod. And bonus, they're really cheap! The fog chase and French roast flavors are very strong.

The Newmans Own extra-bold is good. So is the Green Mountain French roast. I think the rest are awful.

There's one at my office and I do the first run for 4oz and then use another pod for a 6oz pour. Tastes pretty good that way. At home I just have a regular coffeemaker.

Which jurisdiction recycles them? They are a paper plastic mix, so I know MoCo won't recycle them. I'm a big Keurig user too. So I'm not judging.

But honestly, when you look at the entire life cycle of getting coffee in your hand, it's horribly environmentally unfriendly, and most of that is how coffee is grown. It wipes out whole forests. So NO coffee drinker should be sitting in judgment. Buy fair trade, rain forest certified, and to some extent organic, if you "truly" care about the environmental impact of drinking coffee. What happens to k cups is the least of the planet's problems.

NP here. I buy fair-trade organic coffee from a food coop. It's packaged in paper, which I recycle. I transport it to my home in reusable bags. I grind it myself in a 15 year old grinder and make it in either a 20 year old press pot or a 10 year old drip machine with a reusable filter. I compost the grinds.

So, yes, SOME coffee drinkers can sit in judgment, if we wanted to.

Truly, I think what you're doing is great. I used to do that but did cave to the Keurig and its convenience. Don't use it every day though and also use the reusable Kcup several times a week. Love my coffee!!

Yep, this is what I do too. It was DH's idea to get that damn Keurig and I hate it. So, even though it makes him cringe, I use two of those little shitty cups for each normal cup of coffee. I brew it on the smallest cup size to increase the strength. It's expensive and a waste but I can't stand the thought of having two coffee makers on the counter. Also, I generally make coffee in a regular coffee maker at work so I only use them on the weekends. It kinda makes the Sunday coffee thing suck though.

That is no way to go through life. You should get a little french press or stovetop espresso maker.

LOL!!! OMG, PP, you just made me spit out my keurig coffee!!
