The Highlander, Pilot, MDX, and others didn't have those features then, but it sounds like they may now. Anyway, we love ou

Thanks for the info. Went to carmax and tried pilot and xc90 today...both definitely had gpod third row access and beyter cargo space than other bramds i have tried evem the larger metcedes gl and lexus lx.
Boy, did I ever HATE my Volvo... 34 service visits in 37 months at that point, I had ENOUGH and traded it on a minivan. Even the service advisors at Volvo felt sorry for me.

As for the MDX, I know two people who reluctantly traded them for Odysseys when the reality of 2 kids set in. My traverse/Acadia friends seem the happiest of the non-minivan crowd.

We don't put grownups (aside from ourselves) in the 3rd row, but it is nice to have that extra seating at times. Also, the 3rd row is split, so you can make it fit 5 seats with one half of the third row still folded flat.
2nd row is captains seats, which I was not especially looking for, but turns out to be nice for 2 kids in the car -- they have some separation, easier to reach their seat belt straps. And there's a litte fold out table between them.
It has manual sliding back doors, a la a minivan, which turns out to be great for keeping my child from swinging his door into other parked cars in a parking lot.
