i can't believe thebride who gave engraved alram clocks and key chains seriously thinks that was a good gift! that was a worse favor than mint! or silver trays!

Nobody cares about wedding favors. I made pralines and they tasted good but if I were doing it again today I would save myself the effort. Some friends and family might keep your program or a CD but that's it.

Oh, not me, but a relative at my wedding, of dubious mental stability, would say:
the best favor was several large bouquets of flowers which matched the bridesmaids.'

Of course, they WERE the bridesmaids' flowers, which she STOLE

I had a rule for our wedding: No FLORAL, no BOWS. That took care of 99% of the typical-wedding-craziness of tying millions of little satin bows on things nobody cares about. And it saved me god knows how much time and effort.

Totally agree! An old boyfriend planted mint right next to my beloved rose bush. The mint won.

Little pottery pieces filled with awesome dried spices from India.

Total waste of money.. I can't actually think of one that was ever really great.. Even those that were better still mostly get left on the table or forgotten in the car on the way home. We took the amount of money we would have spent on favors and donated it to a charity that was/is significant to us as a couple and also played a part in our relationship. We then put a note at each place setting saying this with the story behind it.

I went to a movie themed wedding. Each tale centerpiece had was a film reel, the ceremony/reception took place in a historic theater, tables weren't numbered, they were named after fav movies. The favor was a cd with songs from the various soundtracks. It was about 9 yrs ago so dated, but I listened to that cd all the time. These days, maybe a USB drive with the music?

I think candy would be awesome or a bar where guest can make up their own candy bag. If you really want to personalize it, you can get custom m&ms made.

Worst? Probably mine which was a lavender sachet and a packet of butterfly seeds. I would like to think that someone planted them and hopefully enjoyed the scent of the lavender but who really knows. We also provided CDs, not of cheesy wedding music but of some of our favorite songs. I still listen to it from time to time, the music was mostly timeless r&b classics.

"engraved with our names and wedding date" - why do you think that a guest at your wedding will want to use something like this to remember that date forevermore? Do you really think that an alarm clock engraved with your personal name/date is something that a hundred or more people will want on their nightstands, to see that info day in and day out? Tsotchke favors are such a waste of money and I never know what to do with them. And I think a lot of them probably never make it out of the reception.
