PP here. Most people walk their dogs before or after working hours. I suppose it is easier for me because 1) my office happens to be front and center so the offenders do not stand a chance 2) we have a dog that tells us when any person with dog approaches 3) we are crazy enough and willing enough to send in for DNA testing to bust the MF's.

The funny thing is, I don't care if I'm the one that looks crazy for busting them. In reality, they are the antisocial ones trying to cast their responsibilities on society. Not in my yard you don't. I will hunt you down. If you think I care what anyone here thinks about me, you are sorely mistaken.

I have dogs, but they are not anyone else's responsibility but mine. What a concept!

about the teacher comment- I was not only referring to accidents- I was talking about how kids get in lots of messes that is not even their own! I had a 3 year old moon walk through vomit once (and while utterly disgusting and a huge mess to clean up I thought it was hilarious!) So how come as a teacher a child covered in poop is magical but for a parent it is rage at an entire species and their owners?

The worst are the individuals who bring their dogs to our gorgeous new turf field, next to an elementary school on Capitol Hill, in the early morning hours to let them run off leash and poop. I have brought my kids to play soccer at this field and seen giant piles. I saw on a neighborhood blog that someone confronted the owner and they cursed back at them.

It's about the fact that these stupid dog owners don't care that someone, a child, an adult, another dog, will step onto that dog sh$t. I never said it wasn't rude for dog owners to leave shit, chill out. It is the rage that I am uncomfortable with, it is inconsiderate but it shouldn't affect the way you see and treat EVERY dog owner and every dog. I likened it to my preschool experience because quite literally- shit happens but it doesn't mean you should lose your cool and act like an ass.

OP here-- Not sure how a picture helps if you have no idea who did it. We live in one of the city's densest areas, and there are a shitload of dogs around. You'd never know from the poop itself.

The answer is to ban all dogs from the city. For the most part, people have these huge dogs that don't belong here anyway, and it's cruel to have them crammed in tiny condos, with tiny patches of grass for them to do their business. It's selfish to make them live here. If you want a big dog, you should have to have a big yard to keep it in, outside of the city.

Again, there's a difference between human beings and dogs. And you chose your job, which included having to deal with little human beings' poop. Also a difference when you become a parent, knowing you will have to deal with poop.

Those of us who don't choose to live with a dog expect not to have to deal with dog poop and don't want our things to be ruined by dog poop (which we encounter due to bad owners). Period. It's not hard to understand.

pp I mentioned that the kids got in animal poop- but instead of freaking out and getting on a soapbox we called it a "science lesson"

So when the kids play in poop (even if it did not come from their body!)- as a teacher I am supposed to deal gracefully but as a parent somehow I am allowed to behave badly? Unfortunately as a teacher I had an obligation to turn these things into teachable moments. But as entitled parents this logic doesn't apply? To me it is not really about the dogs, sounds like OP has a irresponsible neighbor so she feels it is okay to go off about the entire dog owning population (more then likely in front of her children!) A couple of bad apples doesn't entitle you to go on a war path about how gross dogs are. I would not force my love of animals on someone else but don't act like this kind of intolerant behavior is okay, especially when it comes teaching your children. Sorry I really can't wrap my brain around this, you may hate dogs for whatever reason you need to but allow room for those of us who do care about animals. As a teacher I saved every spider (even with an intense fear of them) because that is how you teach children to respect and appreciate the natural world around them. Based on the vitriolic post from OP I get the sense she could have handle this better.

BTW- I am completely aware of the difference between dogs and humans, but I have met dogs that a much nicer then some of the posters on this thread so I would take them over some bitter dog hating poster any day.
