houses of similar condition cost more in Wootton district than in QO. People say all sorts of things online or in real life. See where they put their money to find out the real thoughts.

Yes. It is a fictional number. That is the point. Kids are competitive and they don't care if it is true they are brats about it. They are that bratty kid you went to school with that always asked you what you got on the test, what your SAT score was, did you pass the AP test, etc. Then they are HAPPY if you didn't because that just makes them feel a little better about themselves.

All those kids that reminded the teacher that he forgot to assign homework on the weekend all together in one place. I know sounds like fun. (Not everybody but that is the general vibe.)

+1000 Wootton is the very last HS I would want my kids to attend. You don't get that attitude at Whitman, WJ, Wheaton or Rockville. QO vs. Wootton is hands down QO. Wootton is a bunch of spoiled brats.

At Wootton: Hey what did you get on the AP Calculus test? Oh a B (smile). Oh sorry I hope you don't get grounded. (smile)

I think most kids can rise above that bratty kid but if you have a kid that you don't think will rise above you should know. Wootton is a great school with a character flaw, just like most schools in Montgomery County (or the world).

QO's character flaw is they have athletic kids and poor kids. So you figure out if you can deal with that.

I know this is vey late... but I would recommend QO if you want your kid to be at a school that is great academically, has great athletics, and incredible school spirit. Look up a picture of Quince Orchard Red Army, it will show you how much school spirit there really is. The white percentage at both schools is very similar, though the minority groups differ. QO is about equally divided with the minority groups between Hispanic, black, and Asian. Wooton is mainly all Asian minorities. I have heard a lot from my friends who have kids at Wooton about how stressful it is because everyone is trying to be the best. It seems like it is extremely competitive. QO is an extremely well-rounded school. The only negative thing I've heard about QO are multiple racist incidents like swastikas spray painted on the football field and found on desks and in bathrooms. I also hear a lot about how the stereotypes of people are true at QO, and people seem to judge people because of that. Of course, your kid could stay away from that.

At Wootton, academics is treated as something like a sport. This isn't inherently a bad thing.

Most people on this thread make Wootton sound like some kind of hellhole run by an Inquisition that will track down anyone not in the top 5% and torture them until their grades go up. There might be a grain of truth in that (if it's anything like Churchill, where I have just graduated from, then yes, there is some stiff competition), but making it out as a hellhole? Give me a break. I would trust the guy who goes to Wootton over any disgruntled parents making up hyperbole just to support some thinly veiled ulterior motive (racism, for example; "Wootton is filled with those damn asians!" is a pretty terrible reason to dislike to school).

If your kid is a duffer he will do badly everywhere. A school with high scores will not transform your kid.

Kids at qo are grounded? Wootton kids dont just do academics but they also excel in community service and athletics (maybe not as much as qo). Id rather have my child go to wootton and want to exceed rather than going to qo and feel like average is good enough.
