So what was your worst food from your childhood?

I wonder where my kid's stubbornness comes from?
Yes! The canned Chinese food! Chung King or something, right? I wonder if they still sell that. I don't remember it being that bad though.
That Chun King/La Choy chow mein, served on rice, was really good "Chinese" food when I was growing up. Of course it was topped with those crunchy noodles. Yum!
. Good times! Would never feed half of that crap to DC.Anonymous wrote:As a young kid in the 90s my dad would make us boxed mac n cheese with frozen mixed veggies and canned tuna mixed in. Very poor, mom was gone, and he wanted to get in all the food groups. I actually still like that mixture. A couple times my mom tried to make Thai noodles by mixing peanut butter and honey in with regular spaghetti noodles. Gag! I was also made to sit until finished dinner or eat it cold for breakfast the next morning.

Well, times haven't changed. I still hate peas. I'm 58 now and I'm still watching for the hair.

I turned vegetarian at age 14 (once I was old enough to take a stand) and haven't looked back! For me it is only partially about the ethics of eating, I just absolutely HATE meat and always have. Worse, my mom was the worst cook! She'd make steak, and it would be so well done that it took days to chew. I wasn't allowed to drink anything but whole milk and I hated it. So I'd get this huge bolus of meat in my mouth, and chew and chew and chew until I started gagging, then try to choke it down with milk. And, fwiw, I have a condition that causes extremely high iron levels and I am lactose intolerant. So thanks for that, mother.
*As you may guess, what I was forced to eat is the least of the problems I have with my mother!
OMG. She made you eat meat and milk? What a monster.![]()
Yes, considering I'd throw up from the milk, pretty mean. Bet the two of you have a lot in common.
