I'm not sure what more you want. Their college results are strong compared to other independents. It is not the 1980s, when perhaps this poster went to high school, when NCS/St. Albans/Sidwell sent huge numbers to Ivies, as did the famous boarding schools. The college admissions game has changed, and it has changed big time. As posters have noted, you can see a very broad range of colleges if you look at the matriculations of schools such as Exeter and Hotchkiss, not to mention the local schools (you'll see places like "Elon University" multiple times, for example). If you don't value the education for itself, you will most likely be very disappointed by spending the money. Fair enough, there are other paths.

For those interested in hard data, if you look in the FAQ section SAM2 has put together some spreadsheets of things like National Merit scholarships, college admissions, etc., and you'll see that NCS is up at the top.

In the meantime, perhaps brush up on your reading comprehension skills -- the poster who recommended calling NCS was referencing a question on how many girls enter in 9th grade, not the "downhill" query that draws all the eyeballs (including yours).

What turnover? Seriously. Several of us who have daughters at the school have posted that there really isn't an unusual turnover, that most administrators and teachers have been there for years, quite a few for many years. There is no turnover problem.

It would be great to know a little more about the turnover of staff and administration. I am equating communication with accountability.

PP, agreed. NCS family here who loves the school. But thinks there should be more accountability within the administration.

I disagree that this is absurd. The Cost of Attendance at NCS and peer schools is $40,000.00 per year. They have shared their matriculation data to demonstrate how well placed their graduates are. If their college placements are declining, that is very significant.

I have boys who don't go to STA or a rival school. this is an absurd string. Comes on the heels of ``don't visi girls dress like loose women'' string. Obviously someone is out trolling.

I do not think the OP is trying to help her DD chances to get into this school. If she is a good fit she will make it. I think she is a parent who considering all -girl schools and is not as impressed with the schools college placement. I know three girls who were admitted to NCS this year and one was a late admit! So things may have changed over the years.

You folks are absolutely ridiculous...I think OP is trying to stave off the competition. My kid was rejected at NCS and went to Holton. She had an easier time getting into a top 3 Ivy than she did NCS. I'm calling for you to fold OP...you are a phony.
