I haven't read all of the replies, but it sounds like your landlord or his contractors would make things worse even worse (sounds like he's already spreading lead dust by removing boards). Try to find the local government agency that deals with landlord-tenant issues and/or a local nonprofit to advise you. Personally, I would move out soon and try to get some sort of refund for some of the rent your family paid since he rented it to you under false pretenses and then agravaited the lead situation by tearing stuff up. In the meantime, look for EPA brocheurs on interim steps tenants can take (special cleaning, etc.) to reduce lead exposure. You can probably find a six-month lease somewhere if you are willing to pay a premium for that--it would be well worth it for peace of mind. Even a one-year lease wouldn't be bad. Good luck dealing with a difficult situation.

Attorney here. BS nobody would demand to see the report on a rental . And this would be a bench trial. Ugh.

Not the above PP, but if I had concerns about lead paint, I would have demanded to see the report on a rental.

OP, were any real estate agents involved when you leased the property?
