Beating/spanking ... why the argument? ... I watched about 3 seconds of the clip and in that time, the guy himself said "I will beat you ... "

So I'm guessing he considered it beating.

Anyway, I couldn't watch more than 3 seconds so perhaps it changed. Sicko.

These statements are contradictory. Hitting a child with a belt is abuse per se.

Abuse is mental and physical. To be overpowered by another person, humiliated and hurt is abuse. That man took out his anger and rage on a much weaker, defenseless person who was also handicap. Has there been worse abuse, obviously, was this abuse, definitely. Parents can discipline their children through rewards and reducing their liberties or luxuries (within reason). If she was downloading music after being told not to, remove her computer privileges. He hit her not for what it could do for her, but what it did for him. He wanted revenge and he is an angry asshole. Can you imagine how fair of a judge he is?

I hope this shines a light on the fine line between disicpline and abuse.

In my mind, this circumstance transcends both, and is assault. She has cerebral palsy, part of the reason she spent so much time on her computer and at the piano.

I commend her for finally putting an end to the silent torment by going public, even if it took her many years to do it.

I felt so sick after watching this today at work, that I almost couldn't go back to work. I seriously don't get the apologists for this monster.

That said, let me offer of a few facts, devoid of emotion or judgement:

The father admitted it was him in the video
As a judge, he has heard child abuse cases where the child was returned to the environment, and suffered more abuse
The daughter didn't post this video until she was out of the home
The daughter (poster) said she experienced situations like this after she recorded him

And, keep in mind she has a younger sister.

I can't watch the video, but apparently the daughter has cerebral palsy. WTF is wrong with some people.

Agree. We don't know what she did. She's 16 years old. She's a 16-year old girl/young woman whose father forced her onto a bed, stomach down, so he could whip her. Not once or twice, but a number of times while he spewed inappropriate language at her. Isn't that what that whole sadomasochism thing is all about - whips and beds and force and submission? Oh, and sex, too. It seems to me the video has all of those elements. If this video is genuinely of a father whipping his daughter, it's sick and disturbing.

My thoughts exactly. The whole "Lay on your stomach ON THE BED!" sent chills up my spine. And the use of "fuck" repeatedly. . .soooo scary. Did anyone notice the small little sibling that was sent away before the beating? Allison? Wonder if she suffered a similar fate.

Feeling sick to my stomach. This is one of the sickest things I've ever seen. Not sure what's the worst part, there is so much. He wants to humiliate her. He absolutely "gets off" on hurting her. The wife allows it, participates, then escalates her abusive language to match his. He leaves the room after hurting her -- and then comes back for more. HE hadn't gotten enough at that point, so returning was about satisfying something for HIM. This is one sick SOB and I hope to hell they lock him and the wife up and play this video on a loop for them over and over until they get how f-ing sick and twisted they are.
My heart goes out to this girl. Also, did anyone else feel that sickening feeling when, after the beating/whipping, she began to answer him as "sir" and the wife as "ma'am." Sometimes the price for obedient little children is just too high.
