That was me. A professional from Cleveland. I had no idea that I dropped my g's until I moved here. I no longer do that.

I had to say a few words out loud to hear my pronunciation. I do not say the "ing". Example, runnin', playin', lookin'. I am from the Deep South. I have a soft southern accent. Not really hick. Just southern.

You're missing the point of this post. OP wasn't saying that it should be dropped completely like "fixin" but that it shouldn't be pronounced e.g. fixing-guh
