Yes, Feds in general are big savers compared to your average American. This is true even if you control for Income.

why is this thread so popular? simply look at the returns from the tsp website. some people put 0, some people put the max every year. some people pick the best fund and some pick the worst fund. so you can make your own assumptions and do the calculation for each scenario pretty easily.

41, 15 year fed, about 390k in my TSP. No roll over ; I have some additional accounts. I maxed out in my early years but I haven't for past seven years or so.
