Last Thursday, I asked the AART at our school for the GBRS score of my son. She didn't have a problem with looking it up and telling me the number. I didn't ask to see the file at this point. As the score was 15, I'm feeling more optimistic about his chances now.

I was curious, so I looked at the Parent Information Packet. Nothing on page 8 that I could find, but on page 13 (instructions for filling out the GBRS) toward the botton there is a "bullet" about the GBRS being "available to all parents and guardians" or something. Hope that helps you. We know our daughter's GBRS (12) and, from the teacher commentary, we know that she was marked down in one particular category. So I am already able to prepare some thoughts (and gather some "new information" for appeal) relating to that category. It seems like you should be able to get hold of the same information now regarding your child so that you can plan for an appeal, if necessary.

My AART stated that it may be different from school to school but she was told to wait until after decisions were made. She wanted to be consistent with all the parents. She has been great in the several months i've worked with her, so I do believe it varies, but I will certainly look into the regulations, because she should definitely know that exists. A poster on another thread said that the AART is required by county regulation to show you the complete file, when requested, after it is submitted to the Central Committee, and that this is reflected at the top of page 8 of the Parent Information Packet. You might want to cite that to the uncooperative AART.

I agree with PP 14:30. I requested a copy of the file sent to the screening committee and it was forwarded to me promptly after it was submitted.

Our AART was very nice and accomodating about questions and requests.

And where are these "rules" posted exactly? Please don't take the high road based on what your AART told you. GBRS are legitimately available to parents once the screening files are submitted by the school. In fact, I requested a copy of the entire screening file and got it, but only after it was submitted to the screening committee.

Indeed, I asked for and obtained my child's GBRS score from the AART in Mid-March.

Quite sure that parents are entitled to view the entire file anytime after the original is submitted to the Central Selection Committee (and before decisions are mailed). That is why several posters here (waiting for decisions) already know their child's GBRS score.

Not true. You can meet with the AART at your school and view a copy of the submittal (including GBRS score) that was sent to the central screening committee.

ACTUALLY, THE AART CANNOT REVIEW OR REVEAL THE FILE UNTIL ELIGIBILITY LETTERS COME OUT AFTER SPRING BREAK
