I haven't met anyone who "enjoys" the parties more than they feel like they're an obligation.
I agree it's a job, but it's a job that depends on your friends and acquaintances buying stuff from you. That's touchy. And awkward. And a liiiiiitle bit predatory.
Any S&D rep who says "But it's Fashion Forward! It's celebrity style! It's girls night!" is demonstrating that she's drunk the koolaid. I'd respect the stylists a bit more if they would come clean "I really like the jewelry, it's fun for me, and I'm incredibly grateful/dependent on my friends for facilitating my ability to make money off of them and their friends." That's what it is.
totally agree. The only one who enjoys the party is the seller and host as they both benefit. When i get these invites I don't even bother with an excuse. I just say no.
To the poster who see's it as a night out...um seriously? Yes i am a mom and don't get out a ton but I'd much prefer a nice dinner out versus going to a "party" where I am expected to buy jewlery that is overpriced. The fact that the host and selle get a huge cute tells you just how overpriced it really is. No thanks.
