We love Dr Jessica! Her staff is fantastic and they do a really great job with nervous kids. We live close enough so the commute is not bad. I haven’t had any scheduling problems even when I need to change appointments.

She diagnosed 7 cavities in my then 6 year old. 6 of them she recommended putting crowns on (all baby teeth). At now 10.5, only three of these have needed basic fillings. I would be very careful with her.

I haven’t read all of replies, but as a dental hygienist that worked solely in a pediatric office for years in California- make sure the Dentist is actually board certified in pediatric dentistry. Lots of unethical wiggle room stating they specialize in pediatric patients, etc. There is a really big difference in approach and the work done. I wouldn’t rely on your general dentist for a referral, either. Chances are good the referral will be based on a friendly working relationship rather than any particular knowledge of their skill set. Decay in children progresses more rapidly than in adults- thin enamel.

Avoid Carol Orlando at all costs - "conservative" treatment actually = neglect. Get a second opinion.

Interesting, I've taken my kids to Dr. Blank for a few years now and have been very happy with his practice. I haven't experienced him pushing procedures, but so far my kids have just needed routine cleanings and an occasional cavity filled. Curious about what types of procedures you felt he pushed.

I have recommended Carol Orlando on this forum and others for years, but unfortunately I cannot recommend her anymore. After decades of treatment, I took my kids for a second, and then a third opinion, during which the new practitioners discovered 32 cavities (3 of which will require root canals, plus 3 extractions) among my 4 kids. The cavities were large (i.e., old) and the restorations are huge - meaning crowns down the line as adults. Both new dentists said they were actually "sickened" by the state of my kids' teeth, as they looked as though they had not been under a dentist's care. Please think carefully before choosing Carol Orlando as your dentist. She is the most lovely, caring woman personally, but she neglected to treat obvious problems, and now my children face extensive dental work. My dentist alerted me to the fact that she has been on probation in the past with the MD Board of Dentistry, and a simple judiciary case search reveals that she has been sued for negligence and malpractice more than once. I am heartbroken over this, but I feel compelled to amend my previous glowing recommendations for her.

We usually see dr. Dana, but saw Dr. Charlie once when we needed urgent attention, and he seemed very good. We are only giving up on their practice because they don't take insurance.

Love, love, love Dr Dana and Dr. Charlie. We have had some challnging teeth moments and they have been wonderful. My daughter skipped out of an appt where her tooth had to be pulled. They also are not aggressive, they take a wait and see approach when filling a tooth doesn’t make sense because it will be falling out soon anyway.
