Really, though, this all matters so very, very little in the long run.

point is, the salaries and job opportunities for graduates is not different for any of those schools - if you do well.

Sorry, but I don't think Va Tech belongs in the same list with UVA. The business program at JMU is actually ranked higher than Tech's, although Tech has the advantage of being considered a national school and not a regional school.

Maryland's engineering program is also higher ranked than Tech's, and their business program, as well.

W&M and UVA are the top tier in VA. Period.

I don't think there is that much difference between Va Tech, W&M, UMD or UVA when it comes to getting into good grad schools or a good job. if anything, it might be easier coming out of VTech because less competition there for the good grades.

Put it this way, given comparable GPA and test scores, would a top ranked MBA program or law school give THAT much preference over one or the other? I don't really think so. I do think there is a slight edge, but a greater difference between those three and schools like ODU, JMU and VCU, for example.

we are VA residents and I have a son who is 3rd yr engineering at UDEL and loves it. He turned down all the VA schools. (including UVA).

I dont like the out of state fees so he is paying for those since we said we would only pay in-state

A lot more kids from VA are going to UDEL these days
