So hhi around $255,000
mortgage $4600 refi at 4.65 for 30 year fixed . Owe $550,000 currently assessed at $1 million, bought in early 2000 paid $700,000. You'd think we would have more equity but house is a money Pit with a capital P. Bethesa outside the beltway.

that is actually doable. basically you are living the lifestyle of a $110K HHI with an awesome house. problem is you don't have much of a safety net and expensive houses can have expensive utitlities and repairs. good luck. I am in a similar boat.

Combined base salary is $690K; I'm a little more than 60% of it. DH is the rest. We both get annual bonuses as well. Last year mine was 105, but you can never count on that income. I don't remember what his was.

DH is 33 and I'm 35. We have one kid and own a condo in NW DC, mortgage is $3600/mth, daycare is $600/mth (military day care), student loans $1400/mth.
We put a lot in savings/retirement/college fund; we never feel like we have a lot of $$. Can't afford to move to Bethesda or stay in DC (we want to move to
a house).

Me: About $35,000/year
No DH but I do get about $4,000/year in child support (and sometimes it is even on time!)
I have one K aged daughter and we live in Alexandria. I had no idea we were so poor until I starting reading these boards. We have everything we need and some things we want so it's all good.

I'm the $4,800/month from above. so glad to see we have some company. Our incomes are pretty close. Way I look at it, it will be painful for a few years, but sooner or later inflation will kick in and/or our incomes will rise.

DH: $90K (no bonuses yet, but fingers crossed)
Rent for $1400 close-in with #1 on the way. Looking to buy and will probably increase to $2500 mortgage. Both 31.

HHI ~110k. both of us work, one child in private school, one on the way, own a small townhouse (w/o parents help) in an undesirable county that was bought during the boom and is underwater. i would feel a lot better financially and with life in general if it wasn't for the damn house.
